Back in the early 2000s, there was a Fiji underwater hotel concept that took everyone’s bucket list by storm.
A hotel idea that seemed straight out of a fictional movie.
Could it possibly become a reality?

It originally set to open in 2008, however, it’s now 2019/2020 and it still doesn’t exist.
When they announced it to the public, they released rendered images that showed what their vision was.
And I do have to say, it was pretty incredible. Take a look at these interior images…

After browsing their Facebook page, I saw a few reoccurring questions. Which were…
Where is the Fiji Underwater Hotel located?
It was supposed to be built at an island in Fiji they named ‘Poseidon’s Mysterious Island’.
Spanning about a mile long and surrounded by a 5,000-acre tropical lagoon (with depths reaching 90ft), it seemed like the perfect place for this project.
The visionary of this resort (L. Bruce Jones) originally thought of building it in the Bahamas, however, after offering $10,000 to anyone that found the best island, they picked Fiji.
When is the Poseidon Undersea Resort Fiji Opening Date?
Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it’s unlikely it’s ever going to open.
Originally they said they planned to launch in 2008, however, that was over a decade ago. The last update on their blog was in 2013 and their last Facebook post was 2014.
There’s no specific opening date, however, they still have an email list to get notified on their website.
I think it’s unlikely it’ll actually open, but I sure wouldn’t mind it! Such a cool concept.
What’s the price of the Fiji Underwater Hotel?
Under their ‘Rates & Packages’ section, they only list an introductory package. This package is pricing for 7 days/6 nights…
$15,000 per person
$30,000 per couple, per week
What happened to it?
So, what actually happened to the Poseidon Undersea Hotel?
Naturally, there are some speculations after nothing being constructed a decade later.
Was this project a marketing strategy to…
Build brand awareness for Triton Submarines?
Generate cashflow via merch sales?
Let’s break it down…
Merchandise Sales
After they started gaining traction, they launched merchandise. A bit odd that they sold merchandise before any of the construction started.
Some people were clearly confused, one person even commenting…

Especially since they haven’t updated anyone on the project.
They sold…
Shirts, Polos, Sweatshirts ($20-150)
Duffle bags, Luggage & Backpacks ($100-500)
Special Edition Watches ($900-1500)
Submarines Partnership
They were repeatedly posting about their partnership with Triton Submarines on their Facebook page.
Some were even speculating that this was a project to market their submarines.
In fact, the visionary of this resort (L. Bruce Jones) is the current CEO of Triton Submarines.
I mean, we can’t deny that it was a pretty smart marketing strategy. It got Triton’s brand mentioned in major publications.
Address Update
As of recent, they updated their address on their Facebook page.
Instead of it being Fiji, they’re listed as being in Vero Beach, Florida, USA.
Could they possibly be restructuring operations in Florida or will this project never be finished?
Patiently crossing our fingers!
If you were excited about this hotel concept, then check out our article on the Maldives underwater hotel. (Yes, it’s actually real!)
When I first heard about this project, I was really excited.
From the detailed rendered images to the room specifications, it felt like it was coming to fruition.
Hopefully, in the future, a hotel concept like this one will exist!
But for now, I think we’ll all just have to visit it in our dreams.
